Naruto Ninja Ranking

Naruto characters can be ranked into different categories based on their power levels. It would be impossible to create an exact list of the strongest Naruto characters, but it is possible to divide the characters into different power rankings. We believe that each character in a specific category would be able to defeat one another in a 1 on 1 battle. Of course, there will be some disparity in power, but every matchup will be highly difficult to win.

Only the Naruto characters in the strongest category are ranked. This is arguably the most difficult category, and the ranking is based on the information we currently have. There is always room for discussion, as these characters never actually faced each other 1 on 1. However, we can speculate and power-scale by looking at factors like intelligence, feats, abilities and raw power.

 The categories are:

Weak Jōnin | Jōnin | Strong Jōnin | S-Rank | Kage | Above Kage | Demigod | Omnipotent

Weak Jōnin

The characters in this category are jōnin, which means they have great chakra control, above average power and a lot of experience. However, they’re too weak to hold their own in a battle against the characters ranked above them. Their abilities are still very effective when used in different ways, but they would lose every 1 on 1 fight.

Jōnin

The characters in this category belong to the most powerful shinobi in their respective village or group, but they’re still ranked fairly low because of the many powerful characters in the world of Naruto. These characters still have unique abilities and are usually great tacticians, but their jutsus are simply not strong enough, no matter how great they are as shinobi. Some of these characters also appeared very early in the story when the power levels weren’t as high as they are now.

Strong Jōnin

These Jōnin are equal to the characters in the previous category in terms of skill and the way they operate as a ninja. The difference is that the characters in this category all have a specific edge over the characters before them. This can be an exceptional/unique jutsu or extremely high intelligence.

S-Rank

The characters in this list have it all, powerful jutsu, great awareness, and are very versatile in battle. They are clearly stronger than the characters before them, but they do have some area of weakness compared to the characters above them. With that being said, opponents of these characters should always be wary, because any mistake could be fatal.

Kage

These characters are powerful enough to become the Kage of a Hidden Village. They all are extremely versatile, powerful, intelligent or a combination of the three. These are some of the strongest characters the shinobi world has ever seen.

Above Kage

These characters are simply in a league of their own compared to the ‘normal’ characters. They have abilities that would overwhelm any character that came before them. They are also highly intelligent and are able to face any type of opponent.

Demigod

These Naruto characters are already ‘abnormal’ in terms of strength. Their power seems to have come from a different world, and you can’t compare them to the characters that came before them. It’s just that the characters above them are way ahead.

Omnipotent

The characters in this category belong to the strongest characters of the entire universe. Their power is on a totally different level, to the point where it seems like a totally different league. We have ranked the 8 strongest Naruto characters on this list, but they would all have great difficulty in defeating each other.

8. Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki

Momoshiki can use abilities of both the Byakugan and Rinnegan, giving him the ability to absorb ninjutsu and have all the advantages in terms of vision.

After fusing with Kinshiki, Momoshiki’s physical abilities and chakra reserves grew exponentially. This made him easily overpower multiple Kage level fighters and hold his own against both adult Naruto and Sasuke.

7. Obito Uchiha

Obito became one of the most powerful shinobi ever after becoming the Jinchūriki of the Ten Tails and regaining control of his sanity. He probably would have been a lot more powerful if he stayed in this form longer and learned how to combine his Mangekyou abilities with the Ten Tails’ strength.

Obito had several Truth Seeking Balls at his disposal, as well as different tools and weapons made of the same material. A notable weapon he used was the Sword of Nunoboko.

6. Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke can use both the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan and the Rinnegan. His most powerful jutsus are Amenotejikara (Space-Time Ninjutsu), Perfect Susanoo, Blaze Release and Chidori. He also has the ability to use the Six Paths Techniques, although he doesn’t really use them often.

Other than his great Ninjutsu arsenal, Sasuke also has great Taijutsu and physical strength. He is also one of the most intelligent and perceptive shinobi in the world.

5. Madara Uchiha

Unfortunately, Madara’s life was cut short before we could see his power after absorbing the God Tree. But before that, as the Jinchūriki of the Juubi with two Rinnegans, he was able to battle against Naruto and Sasuke after they had received Hagoromo’s chakra. Who knows what he could do in a 1 on 1 battle.

Madara’s short screen time at full power and the fact that he appeared before the time-skip in Boruto makes it hard to power-scale him. However, anyone on this list would have their hands full facing him alone, especially without a Rinnegan to protect you.

4. Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto is a powerhouse and one of the most difficult opponents anybody can have. His abilities cover so much ground that it’s extremely difficult and exhausting to counter them.

Besides his high-level Taijutsu, Ninjutsu and Senjutsu, his greatest asset is perhaps his unbreakable power of will. His new mode ‘Baryon Mode’ gives him a tremendous boost in his physical abilities. The mode does limit Naruto’s versatility and it has a very high risk, but the power increase is enough to overpower the opponents before him.

3. Isshiki Ōtsutsuki

Isshiki could very well be the most powerful character in the Naruto universe, but we still haven’t seen his full power yet. Unlike the other Ōtsutsuki members, Isshiki proved to be very intelligent and tactical in battle.

The combination of Sukunahikona and Daikokuten is extremely powerful, but his physical strength and chakra reserves alone make him powerful enough to compete with anyone.

2. Kaguya Ōtsutsuki

The Mother of Chakra is known for the legendary power she received after consuming the Chakra Fruit. She has the ability to shift both her and her opponent to six different dimensions, with each of them giving her different advantages.

Other powerful techniques enable her to turn her opponent into ash, the kekkei mōra technique Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack, and her use of the Byakugan.

1. Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki

Hagoromo was able to seal his mother with the help of his brother Hamura. He became the Jinchūriki of the Ten Tails after this event, giving him a tremendous power boost.

Hagoromo seemed knowledgable and skilled in any type of jutsu, as he kept observing the world even after his death. Ranging from Sealing Jutsu, to Ocular Jutsu, to Senjutsu, to using various ninja tools.
