Character Overview
Goku is the main character of the Dragon Ball series, created by Akira Toriyama. He is is a warrior from the Saiyan race with a very simple goal: to fight the strongest fighters in the universe.
Goku is one of the most iconic characters in anime history. He’s the main protagonist of the Dragon Ball franchise and has been a fan favorite since the series began in 1984. He’s known for his incredible strength, unwavering determination, hard work, and his pure heart.
The Saiyan is an incredibly powerful fighter and has saved the world many times over. He’s always ready to face any challenge, no matter how difficult. However, he can be very reckless as he is willing to risk everything just to be able to fight against a strong opponent.
Goku was sent to Earth as a baby from Planet Vegeta by his father Bardock and mother Gine to escape the destruction of the home of all the Saiyans.
Saiyans are mighty warriors that concur planets and destroy them. However, Goku has no intention of harming anyone whatsoever. Grandpa Gohan found Goku on Earth and named him “Son Goku”. Goku’s memories got altered after a serious head injury at a young age, so this causes him to become a different person in a good way. His instincts and nature of the Saiyan bloodline faded and Goku grew up to become a kind-hearted person who wants to defend Earth instead of destroying it.
There is no time for Goku to slack off, as he always wants to train and become stronger to be the mightiest warrior he can be to keep the Earth safe. His growing powers allowed him to defeat numerous dangerous enemies that threatened Earth and even the universe.
Goku is a character that almost everyone loves and he continues to be an inspiration to others because he is pure of heart, kind, humorous, caring for others, shows you the mentality of never giving up, and fights to save others all because he wants to save the world and wants to become the strongest and best version of himself.

Top 3 Techniques
3. Autonomous Ultra Instinct
Autonomous Ultra Instinct is a unique and extremely high advanced mental state that is incredibly hard to master, even amongst the gods of the Dragon Ball Universe. Goku is the first being other than the gods and angels to master Autonomous Ultra Instinct.
This ability can only be utilized once the Perfect Ultra Instinct transformation is achieved. On the other hand, it’s possible for Goku to use this ability but the effects of it will be limited if he doesn’t master the necessary transformations for it.
2. Spirit Bomb
The Spirit Bomb ( Energy Sphere) is an incredibly powerful attack and Goku learned it from King kai, while he was on Kai’s Planet. The Spirit Bomb’s power depends on the number of organisms that share their energy to support the attack, as well as how powerful these beings are. The user of the Spirit Bomb has to gather enormous amounts of energy from life forms and objects of its choice.
This is why this attack is regarded as one of the most powerful in the Dragon Ball Series, but its power depends on the reasons mentioned above. All this energy combined forms a giant energy sphere with massive destruction power. When the right amount of energy is gathered for the Spirit Bomb, it can easily destroy planets.
1. Kamehameha
The Kamehameha is the most popular attack out of all the attacks in Dragon Ball. It is the first energy attack introduced in the Dragon Ball Series, starting in 1985.
Goku learned this technique from Master Roshi when he attended the Turtle School. However, Goku mastered the Kamehameha which he now uses as one of his signature attacks in battle.
We see Goku use the Kamehameha to finish off his opponents through numerous sagas. The user of the Kamehameha uses their hands and brings them in front before bringing them back next to their body to focus their Ki into a single place.
The hands have to be cupped together for this to happen, however, there are also moments where we see characters use the Kamehameha with one hand and even their feet.
To make the attack more powerful, the user has to scream the words “Ka-me-ha-me-HA!!!” as loud as they can before releasing all the energy.
Transformations
Goku has the most transformations out of all Dragon Ball characters. The transformations begin with the Great Ape and end all the way to powers that go beyond that of a god. Find the most information about all the Super Saiyan forms, and more down below.
Oozaru
Goku turns into a great ape by looking at the full moon. He loses control in this transformation and can only transform if he has a tail.
Super Saiyan
Goku was consumed with so much rage after Frieza killed Krillin, that he was able to turn into the Legendary Super Saiyan. The Super Saiyan transformation makes you 50x more powerful than your base form.
Super Saiyan 2
After pushing the limits of Super Saiyan through extensive training, Goku was able to transform into a second Super Saiyan form. This gives him even more power than the first one. Super Saiyan 2 is twice as strong as the Super Saiyan form.
Super Saiyan 3
By training even more and facing his most powerful opponent yet in Kid Buu, Goku was able to transform into Super Saiyan 3. The Super Saiyan 3 transformation is 4x stronger than Super Saiyan 2.
Super Saiyan 4 (GT)
Super Saiyan 4 isn’t canon material, but it is a very popular transformation nonetheless. It is the only transformation that incorporates a saiyan’s ape powers.
Super Saiyan God
Goku obtains the Super Saiyan God form by using a ritual with the power of other saiyans. It was at the time the only way for Goku to receive a power boost in order to defeat the God of Destruction Beerus.
Super Saiyan Blue
Goku obtains Super Saiyan Blue after training for a while with Vegeta and Whis on Planet Beerus.
Ultra Instinct
Ultra Instinct technically isn’t a transformation but an ability Goku uses, but the way it is depicted makes it seem more like a transformation. It’s Goku’s most powerful form yet.

This fight happened during the God of Destruction Beerus Saga and the movie Batlle of Gods. Goku obtained the Super Saiyan God form and now battles Lord Beerus again. The fight becomes one-sided at first in favor of Beerus because Goku has trouble controlling the Super Saiyan God transformation.
However, Goku becomes more confident and is able to adapt better to Beerus’ attacks to the point where Beerus declares Goku a worthy opponent.
Their fight later takes place in space and the force of their battle is so immense that more planets get destroyed by the shock waves of the two. Goku and Beerus fight at 100% and it is a great battle to see between these two incredibly powerful beings.
4. Goku vs Kid Buu
Goku and Kid Buu fight during the Buu Saga in Dragon Ball Z. Goku in Super Saiyan 3 form fights against Kid Buu in a battle that decides the fate of the universe. The magnitude of this fight is insane because the loved ones and friends of Goku and Vegeta just got destroyed by Kid Buu and the duo of Goku and Vegeta stand no chance against this evil alien.
Goku Super Saiyan 3 fights against Kid Buu but he uses too much energy and becomes worn out. This is where Vegeta plays a crucial role as he fights against Kid Buu knowing he has no chance of winning, all to give Goku time to recover and rest.
Goku later charges the Spirit Bomb (in base form) and gathers all the energy from the people of Earth to make it more powerful. This results in Goku throwing the Spirit Bomb at Kid Buu.
However, Kid Buu is so strong that he deflects the Spirit Bomb back at Goku but Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan and pushes the Spirit Bomb back again towards Kid Buu with even more power. This results in Goku finishing off Kid Buu and restoring the peace on Earth.
3. Goku vs Jiren
The fight between the two most powerful beings of Universe 7 ( Goku) and Universe 11 (Jiren) happened during the Tournament of Power in Dragon Ball Super. The fight between Goku and Jiren starts with Jiren easily overpowering Goku in all his forms, even Super Saiyan Blue.
The immense power of Jiren shows when he easily deflects a Spirit Bomb from X20 Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken. The power of this Spirit Bomb was so destructive, that it caused a creating a black hole in the realm of the Tournament of Power, and Goku falls into it because of exhaustion.
However, this causes Goku to acquire Ultra Instinct form. Goku’s attacks are now so much faster, stronger, sharper, and precise that he now fights as Jirens equal and starts pushing him back.
The battle between the Saiyan from Universe 7 and the mortal that even a God of Destruction cant defeat causes both fighters to surpass their limits and become the strongest versions ever of themselves, with all the other Universes of the Tournament of Power watching them.
2. Goku vs Vegeta
Goku Super Saiyan 2 against Majin Vegeta Super Saiyan 2 was one of the most memorable fights of the entire story because of the history behind the rivalry of these Saiyans. This fight was like a rematch between the two since the start of the Dragon Ball Z series when they fought for the first time.
Vegeta puts his pride as a mighty Saiyan warrior on the line yet again because he was in Goku’s shadow for so long and challenges Goku to a battle to settle the score once and for all.
You see during their fight that the two know each other’s moves and tricks, this keeps their battle intensely close as the two are fighting as equals.
The deeper meaning behind the fight is what gives it more meaning as the tension between the two is as sharp as ever. Vegeta wants to recover his pride as a Saiyan warrior by beating Goku while Goku wants to understand what led to Vegeta acting this way but he has to fight at full strength otherwise he will get killed.
1. Goku vs Frieza
Goku vs Frieza is a fight that sets up the future of the Dragon Ball Z series because of the magnitude and Goku becoming the first ever Legendary Super Saiyan in history! The Super Saiyan transformation was a myth to all Saiyans because no one ever achieved it until a low-class Saiyan warrior achieved this legendary form.
The buildup to this fight carries so much weight because Frieza is the ultimate evil, responsible for humiliating and killing almost all of the Saiyan population and their planets, murdering Goku’s best friend Killing, beating Vegeta, Gohan, and Picollo almost to death as well.
This results in Goku fighting as serious and angry as ever in a fight that ends up with the destruction of Planet Namek because of the insane power clashes between him and Frieza.
However, what makes this fight also so memorable is that Goku was willing to spare his opponent’s life even after all he just went through and seeing all his loved ones get either beaten or killed. This can be called the ultimate act of kindness by Goku, he just can’t stand it that someone has to lose his life by his hands even if it’s literally the evilest and most dangerous being in the universe.
